THE PIANO LESSON
Wishing to = encourage=20 her young son's progress on the piano,
a mother took the small = boy to a=20 Paderewski
concert. After
they were seated, the mother spotted = a friend=20 in the
audience
and walked down the aisle to greet her. Seizing = the=20
opportunity
to explore the wonders of the concert hall, the little = boy
rose=20 and
eventually explored his way through a door marked=20 "NO
ADMITTANCE."
When the house lights dimmed and the concert = was=20 about
to begin, the mother returned to her seat and discovered = that
her=20 son was missing. Suddenly, the curtains parted and
spotlights
focused = on the=20 impressive Steinway on stage. To her horror,
the
mother saw her = little boy=20 sitting at the keyboard,
innocently
picking out "Twinkle, Twinkle = Little=20 Star."
At that moment, the great piano master made his=20 entrance,
quickly moved to the piano, and whispered in the boy's=20 ear,
"Don't quit. Keep playing." Then, leaning over, =
Paderewski
reached=20 down with his left hand and began filling in a bass
part. Soon = his=20 right arm reached around to the other
side
of the child and he added = a=20 running obligato. Together, the
old master and the young novice = transformed a=20 frightening
situation into a wonderfully creative experience. The=20 audience
was mesmerized.
That's the way it is with God. What = we can=20 accomplish on
our own is hardly noteworthy. We try our best, but=20 the
results aren't always graceful flowing music. However,
with = the help=20 of the hand of the Divine, our life's work
can be truly=20 beautiful.
Next time you set out to accomplish great feats,=20 listen
carefully for the voice of the God whispering in your = ear,
"Don't=20 quit. Keep playing." Feel loving arms around
you. Know that = strong=20 hands are playing the concerto
of your life.
Remember, God = doesn't=20 call the equipped, He equips the calle
